"Teeters and his classy cast and players offered the first truly satisfying performance I’ve heard... If I ever forget what a superb programmer he's been over his 39 years of directing Boston Cecilia, remind me of this concert."

All Brahms Concert Bring on Brahms

Bach TranscriptionOn Friday, May 1st at 8:00 PM, the Boston Cecilia chorus closes their 133rd season with a concert of music exclusively by Brahms. The brilliant intensity that rising star mezzo Krista River brings to everything she sings will resonate at an even higher level when applied to eloquent solo Leider of Brahms, and, joined by the Men of Cecilia, in the haunting Alto Rhapsody. The Cecilia Chorus probes deep with a cappella motets and sends you home smiling with the lilting, heart-lifting melodies of Brahms’s popular Liebeslieder Waltzes — the glory days of imperial Vienna refined into a delectable essence.

Featuring:
Krista River, mezzo-soprano
Barbara Bruns and Keith Glavash, piano

Friday, May 1 - 8:00 pm

What people are saying about the Boston Cecilia: "Teeters led everything [works of Scott Wheeler and Virgil Thomson] with remarkable sensitivity to both text and musical architecture. And if I ever forget what a superb programmer he's been over the 39 years of directing the Boston Cecilia, remind me of this concert." Lloyd Schwartz, The Boston Phoenix
