Naxos to release Cecilia's recording of "The Construction of Boston."
The CD of Composer in Residence Scott Wheeler's opera will be released during 2008. The libretto, as well as program notes from the April 2007 concert performance, are available now.

o magnum mysterium

Christmas The Boston Cecilia continues their 132nd season with their popular annual Christmas concerts. This year the program is titled O Magnum Mysterium (O Great Mystery). These concerts will usher in the season with mesmerizing spiritual music that will celebrate the true meaning of Christmas. The Boston Cecilia has developed a remarkable reputation for its enchanting explorations and interpretations of this vocal literature. These musical settings will explore the mystery and wonder that accompany this holy time of year.

This popular pair of concerts will be under the direction of Boston Cecilia Associate Conductor Barbara Bruns. The Boston Cecilia will perform settings of O Magnum Mysterium by Victoria and Lauridsen, settings of Ave Maria for women's voices by Gustav Holst and others, and Village Wedding by John Tavener along with other magical sounds of the season by Leighton and Britten among others.

Friday, December 7 at 8:00 pm, Church of the Advent, Beacon Hill.
Sunday, December 9 at 3:00 pm, All Saints Parish, Brookline.
